Black Lace Collection designed by: Rush Pleansuk +Decha Archjananun

Up-and-coming designers Rush Pleansuk and Decha Archjananun collaborated on the design of the Black Lace Collection, which wasinspired by the interplay of light and shadow and the multitude of patterns found in nature.  Master weavers work diligently for 14 days to create the light and delicate weave of Viro ™ Fiber that looks and performs strikingly like leather.  The woven material is artfully stretched over high-quality, EDP-treated, powder-coated steel frames to create the light and airy yet deceptively strong furniture suited equally for in- or outdoor use. more details

Tracey Overbeck Stead
by Lauren Liebowitz

Tracey Overbeck Stead is an Austin-based interior designer, has owned her own business since 2000, designing for residential and commercial clients all over the world and especially here in Austin.

Tracey answers questions covering her pursuit of interior design, preferences, inspirations, visions and influences…enjoy!

What led you to pursue interior design? Has this been something you’ve wanted to
do your whole life, or did it just fall into place?

I think it started when I was really young. I would always rearrange all my friends’ rooms – that’s interior design for a small child. I rearranged my room. I space-planned my neighbors’ rooms. I’ve always had a connection to space and how you inhabit that space. Then, as a surprise when I was 14 and in high school, my mother had this design team come and redo my bedroom. I got there at the tail end as they were still fussing with it, and I was in nirvana – I couldn’t soak it up enough. After I graduated, I first pursued an early childhood education degree and was a preschool teacher for years. But I always loved design, so I went back to school when I was 24 or 25 to pursue my professional interior design credentials. read the interview

In about 10-20 minutes customers can create their own fabric covered panels without the hassle of adhesives or glue. Simply source your cover material, cut it a little oversize of the panel, peel the liner from the face of the board, adhere the fabric and then trim the edges. “It is a very green solution when compared to using aerosol adhesives that release harmful VOC’s into the environment,” says Kinder. more details

The Kauri millenarian swamp – Timber with an Ancient Soul. There is abreath of  infinite time in Kauri timber, the largest and most famous New Zealand tree, a conifer that thrives only in sub-tropical climates. “Agathis Australis” is the scientific name for a tree that appeared during the Jurassic period before man had set foot on the earth and which grew in virgin forests. Cataclysms and natural disasters, which took place at the end of the glacial period, razed entire forests, covering them with water and mud. And, it is from these swamps, a nest of mud, that Kauri has come to life again, splendid and in tact as though it had just been felled. The conservation of the Kauri and the slowing of the natural decomposition process takes into account various factors and those factors which seem to have a fundamental role are the large quantities of resins present in the timber. According to recent studies, the resin contains certain remedial and impermeable ingredients which protect the bark from mould and water. more details
